ABOUT BRIAN
A native of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Brian attended Los Lunas High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and Master of Arts in educational leadership from the University of New Mexico and is also known for his years playing football for the Lobos.
From 1994 to 2001, Brian worked as a teacher at White Mountain Intermediate School in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He taught in the gifted and talented program at Daniel Fernandez Intermediate School from 2001 to 2005. In 2005 and 2006, he was assistant principal of Manzano Vista Middle School. He served as director of special education for Los Lunas Public Schools from 2007 to 2011, director of personnel until 2012, and, currently, Brian has served as the deputy superintendent of Los Lunas Public Schools since 2018. He is also a member of the American Association of School Personnel Administrators. Brian’s background in education leadership provides a record of leading large-scale initiatives focused on community achievement, financial management, human capital strategies, facilities master-planning, and policy and governance.
Currently, Brian oversees and supports the personnel, athletics, safety and security, and transportation departments for Los Lunas Schools. Baca has been a district administrator since 2007 and has served at the cabinet level within the school district for over 10 years. Representative Baca has served District 8 since being appointed by the Valencia County Commission in January 2022. District 8 is located in Valencia County, centered around Los Lunas.
